.nl domain names

How does a transfer for a .nl domain take place?

The process of a transfer goes as follows:

  • Check your mail address
Check whether the current mail address entered under the registrant is still correct. You can check this with the current registrar.
Is the mail address not correct? Then you can contact your current registrar to change it for you.
  • Unlock the domain
Check whether the domain is locked. When the domain is locked, it can't be transferred to a new registrar.
In case the domain is locked, you can contact your current registrar to unlock it for you.
  • Request the transfercode.
A transfercode is needed in order to start/finish the transfercode. You can request this code at your current registrar.
  • Give the transfercode to the new registrar.
With the transfercode you can start the transfer at the new registrar.
  • Starting the transfer
The new registrar starts the transfer at SIDN. SIDN will then compare the given and needed transfercode in their system. If it matches. The domain will get transferred.

A transfer of a .nl domain can take up to a few minutes. During this transfer, the domains, website(s) and mailbox(es) will stay active.
