How do I choose an SSL certificate?
There are different types of SSL certificates available. The best choice depends on what you want to secure. We offer the following types of certificates:
-
Single-domain SSL certificate
Secures one domain name, both with and without the www prefix. This type of certificate is sufficient for most websites when you do not need to secure any subdomains.
-
Multi-domain SSL certificate
Secures multiple domain names belonging to the same owner. This is particularly useful when you use several domain names for your website or online store. For example, you can secure both "domainname.be" and "domainnamewebshop.be" with the same certificate.
-
Wildcard SSL certificate
In addition to your domain name, all subdomains are also secured. This means that all existing and future subdomains are covered by this certificate. This saves you a lot of time, as you do not need to request a new certificate every time you want to secure a new subdomain.
In addition to the different certificate types, you can also choose the type of validation for your certificate. You can choose from:
-
Domain Validation (DV)
Provides an HTTPS connection to your website but does not provide any information about the company behind it. This type of certificate is mainly suitable for personal websites.
- Organization Validation (OV)
Through a thorough verification process, both the domain name and company details are validated. This type of certificate is suitable for business websites where data is exchanged, such as contact forms or login details.
- Extended Validation (EV)
In addition to the padlock icon and HTTPS, the company name is also displayed in a green bar in browsers. This provides the highest level of trust for visitors of online stores.
If you are still unsure which option is best for your website, do not hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to help you make the right choice!
